This video is part of the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner’s “Hug the Coast” campaign. It offers a bird’s-eye-view of the train traveling through some of the most scenic stretches of the Pacific Surfliner route, from Surf Beach to Torrey Pines. D&S Farms is a vertically integrated farm in Atwater, California growing sweet potatoes for the last five generations by the Souza Family. About 10% of the crop is used to make Corbin Vodka, a sweet potato vodka introduced in 2010 by David Souza Jr. GOAL was hired by Pollack PR to provide the production and post-production services for this video. The purpose of this testimonial video was to showcase how the farm uses Netafim drip tape for improved water management.

The Inland Empire Regional Composting Facility (IERCF) was constructed in 2007 under a Joint Powers Authority agreement between the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) and the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County (SDLAC). The IERCF, located in the city of Rancho Cucamonga, is completely enclosed to control odors to meet stringent air quality regulations and is the nation’s largest indoor bio-solids composting facility.

GOAL was hired by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to produce a series of videos about flooding in the State of California for the California Department of Water Resources. The assignment includes two PSA’s in English (one shown here), one PSA in Spanish, one 3-5 minute video about the dangers of flooding after fire damage, one 3-5 minute video about the dangers of flooding after drought, and one 3-5 minute video in Spanish about general flooding. GOAL worked directly with the State of California Public Affairs Office to develop a concept for these videos, and provided all pre-production, field production, and post-production services.

GOAL worked directly with Foothill Transit Authority (FTA) to develop a video to inspire and unify FTA employees and contractors. After an initial meeting with the FTA Marketing Manager, GOAL developed a treatment and script that highlights the unique culture and rich history of the organization. The story is told through interviews, a day-in-the-life snapshot of a rider, and unique transitions. GOAL provided all pre-production, production, and post-production services to produce the video.

The City of Redding hired GOAL to produce a public service announcement to teach residents that seemingly harmless actions can prove to be significant to the wastewater treatment process. GOAL decided to take a light hearted approach to this assignment, casting a toilet as a trash can. Doerte provides the agency with fiscal support, reporting, and control. She gives GOAL valuable insights in our big-picture projects and day-to-day operations. Prior to working with GOAL, Doerte was the Project Manager for Citibank and Branch Manager for City National Bank serving local businesses and high net worth individuals.

Doerte is also an Olympian! She was an Olympic Athlete at the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney, Australia, where she won the bronze medal for diving in the 3-meter springboard event.

Doerte enjoys spending time with her family, working in the garden and being active hiking, riding her bike or doing yoga.

ROBERT BALLO

Robert Ballo is an award winning Producer and Director of Photography who brings 35 years of industry experience producing video content for corporate communications, feature films for television, and documentaries. His work has been featured online, as well as ABC, PBS, TBS, the Discovery Channel, and Lifetime. Robert joined GOAL Productions in 1982, and assumed ownership of the company in 2000. In addition to his video work, Robert served as an Associate Professor of Practice at University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts for 20 years. A graduate of USC himself, Robert is a member of the Academy of Arts & Sciences.

When Robert is not out in the field he can be found skiing anywhere there’s snow, writing and reading poetry, and taking care of his pigs and sheep.

Traveling across various states, Nima has honed his craft across all budgetary scales, earning recognition as a distinguished member of the Producers Guild of America. His work exemplifies a deep engagement in every stage of filmmaking, reflecting his versatile expertise and dedication.

Bill Moldt is a creative director, cinematographer, and editor based in the Los Angeles area. For over 18 years, his work includes award winning narrative films, music videos, stop motion animation, commercials, documentaries, training and marketing videos. An avid hiker, private pilot, and technical tinkerer, Bill also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, studied at Vancouver Film School, and is a certificated Commercial Remote (drone) Pilot.

Joshua Butler has over 25 years of experience as a film and video director-editor and has mastered all the skills to take a production from prep to completion. He has directed and edited over 100 hours of original content for film, television, web, streaming, network, nonprofit and social media. In addition to editing 8 network pilots—all of which were picked up to series—his long-form documentary PAUL MONETTE: THE BRINK OF SUMMER’S END won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Joshua has made short and long-form content for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Funko Pop, FX Networks, MTV, FOX, the CW, NBC, CBS, ESPN, and Netflix. Joshua is also a creator of multiple videos for TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and many other social media platforms and has served as social media manager for multiple influencers.

A West Virginia native, Nicole Layson received her degree in Theatre from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she acted and directed countless plays. She continued her acting career in Los Angeles, CA, and became a member of SAG/AFTRA after playing various roles in independent feature films. While on set as an actor, Nicole fell in love with what happens behind the camera, which led her to pursue a Film Degree from the Los Angeles Film School. She then wrote, produced, and directed her own award winning short films and began working in production. Within two years of finishing her film degree, she had production managed and line producer multiple television series and feature films. She has also produced numerous music videos, shorts, and commercials. In addition to her production experience, Nicole has taught Production Management at the Los Film School and continues to teach Producing at Santa Monica College and UCLA.
